In 1990 Steve and Dr. Bob Logan created the New Church Incubator (a coaching, training, and support system for new church planters). The New Church Incubator was adopted by over 50 denominations serving over 1,000 church planters in five countries. The New Church Incubator became the prototype for most of the church planting networks found in America today.
In 1993 Steve partnered with Bill Mallick to found the Church Multiplication Training Center and the original Church Planter’s Boot Camp, a four-day intensive training and coaching experience that has benefited more than 10,000 church planters in the last decade. Steve developed the original training materials and activities for the Boot Camp. These training materials have been franchised, cloned, or enhanced by dozens of denominations and training organizations and are recognized as the foundational training for church planters in the U.S.

Each of these two-year consultations involves a minimum of six two-day training events and monthly coaching for regional team leaders. In most cases, the success rate of churches has moved from 50% to 90% and the number of new church starts has tripled, resulting in hundreds of new churches across the nation.
